René “El Chulo” Santiago, World Champion

René Manuel Santiago García, known as René “El Chulo” Santiago, a graduate of the P.E.C.E.S. Alternative High School, has made history by becoming the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Interim World Champion in the Junior Flyweight (108 lbs) category. His effort, discipline, and perseverance led him to defeat prominent international boxers, making him a source of pride for Humacao, Puerto Rico, and the entire PECES community.

From his early experiences in boxing alongside his mentor and father, René has shared his passion with young people on the island, participating in sports clinics and motivational talks through the RESPLANDECE Program, transmitting values ​​of discipline, perseverance, and personal growth.


At PECES, we are extremely proud of René Santiago's achievements. He and his family have been involved in various ways in the community services we offer. His success as a World Champion is a source of great pride and satisfaction for us, as it demonstrates that with effort, dedication, and mutual support, many barriers can be overcome and goals achieved. Our message to René has always been to give his best, to believe in his abilities, and to know that he has our support, as well as that of all the young people who collaborate with us in our organization.
